Sachin - My Hero

Named after the family's favourite music director and singer, Sachin Dev Burman, our hero was not a very good student and did not do well in studies but then so what? He made a name for himself the world over and made use of his talent which lay in playing cricket!
He was gifted a cricket bat when he was eleven years old and his talent in the cricket field soon became clear. At the age of fourteen , he scored 326 out of a world record stand of 664 in a school match. At fifteen, he scored a century in the domestic first -class debut for Bombay in 1988, making him the youngest player to do so. Eleven months later, he made his international debut for India against Pakistan. And as they say, 'the rest is history.' He played many matches scoring high runs and centuries in different cities and countries. He became famous the world over. Everyone was crazy for Sachin. No one missed a cricket match if they knew he was playing.
After the 1996 World Cup, he was named captain of the Indian National team. However, Sachin was never very comfortable captaining his team. He continued to play as brilliantly, scoring century after century. In 1998, the Indian team defeated the great Australians!
By 2001, he had become the first player to score 10,000 runs in the ODIs and the following year he surpassed the great legend, Sir Don Bradman with his 30th century. In 2011, he and his team defeated Sri Lanka in the World Cup.
